OPPENHEIMER

Yet another masterpiece by Christopher Nolan, and my god, what brilliant acting by Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. I won’t be surprised if either of them wins an Oscar for their performances.

As an average Indian watcher, I feel there was a lot of pretext missing about the characters. Nolan had assumed we all know about World War 2 politics wrt the ideologies of Nazis, Soviets, and Communists, and their leaders, etc., etc.

Even though there were a lot of intense dialogues and conversations, the first half of the movie seemed mildly boring to me. It’s when Oppenheimer decides to build the bomb in a secret place and test the detonation, the story starts getting intense. 2nd half is just amazing.

Those 60 secs of actual detonation scene of the bomb, is a truly fantastic piece of art. We can see & feel the first-hand experience of how really a bomb explodes. I didn’t blink once in those 60 secs.

That was the successful test of the atomic bomb, the later result of which, we all know what happened, eventually Hiroshima & Nagasaki were bombed. No surprises.
Robert Oppenheimer, who’s considered the Father of Atomic Energy, and who has been celebrated by Americans & others might want to reflect again.

Oppenheimer is not a hero, who saved the world. He’s quite the opposite. He himself knows it quite well, we all should too.

Celebrate the movie, art, & actors.
Not Oppenheimer.
